Join us to help save pets lives!
The Pet Good Samaritan Fund was started by a veterinary practice owner to help bridge the gap between immediate need and financial constraints.
Our Mission
Our mission is to support veterinarians who provide a Spectrum of Care and help increase their ability to save pets whose owners are experiencing financial hardship.
By offering pet parents affordable treatment options, payment plan options, and follow-up supports, we will save more lives. Our volunteers offer guidance to pet parents after treatment to help and encourage care for pets in the home. By providing for the immediate need as well as future care this is an excellent way to reinforce responsible pet parenting .
When Gold Standard of Care is not feasible for a pet parent, the Spectrum of Care Approach initiative is utilized. The veterinarian oath supports the moral code to put patients above profits.
This partnership between the pet parent, the veterinary hospital, and the Pet Good Samaritan Fund is an amazing way to abolish economic euthanasia in treatable cases.
When everybody participates in a team based approach, miracles happen!

We are looking for veterinarians to partner with us.
If you are a veterinary practice owner or manager and want to learn more about the PGSF please email us at petgoodsamfund@gmail.com.
We will help when a pet is in a life saving emergency with good prognosis, and the pet parent is experiencing financial hardship.
PGSF and Veterinary Hospital Partnership Protocols
1. The pet is in a life threatening, treatable emergency situation with good prognosis, and the pet parent is experiencing financial hardship.
2. The pet parent pays for the initial veterinary hospital appointment and emails the doctor’s diagnosis, itemized invoice estimate for treatment and two pet photos to petgoodsamfund@gmail.com.
3. The pet parent completes the PGSF application (while at the veterinary hospital). Note: in accepting our help, pet parents agree to spay/neuter their pet if it is not already.
4. The PGSF pays for half the treatment cost (up to $1,000 on the PGSF part, per emergency).
5. The pet parent pays for half the treatment cost (if the invoice is over $2,000 they will pay more than half). The pet parent will pay what they can that day, prior to treatment.
6. The veterinary hospital contributes in some way(s).
7. The veterinary hospital offers the pet parent a payment plan (if possible) and if financially needed. For example, Vetbilling.com is reputable and reasonable third party billing company and is a partner of PGSF.
8. After treatment, the veterinary hospital emails the final invoice to PGSF for payment directly to the hospital.
9. The PGSF volunteers communicate with pet parents after treatment to offer resources and support for future pet(s) care and financial stability.
10. The PGSF volunteers offer veterinary hospitals open communication, implementation training and support.
We welcome discussion, feedback and suggestions for change and improvement.
All parties are to be kind, caring and respectful.
