Sol Stone

Sol Stone is a 1-year-old naughty boy who thought it would be awesome to ingest a bunch of hair ties. About 20 ties were removed during his surgery!

His family spent $950 at the first hospital that treated his emergency, then another $500 at Focus Veterinary Care. The generous donors of the PGSF provided the final amount of $454 to round out his life-saving care. Together everyone saved his life!

When asked about Sol Stone, his family had this to say; “He is a super social boy and loves to sleep at our feet. He loves his brother and sister, and they love him. This whole experience is weird for them. Even still he has still been so sweet and active, up until having to take him to the hospital.” His family have big hearts for cats. They rescue stray cats and fix them when they can. It is wonderful that so many people care about helping animals.

Bapoo

Bapoo is a 6-year-old neutered cat who had a urinary blockage. Blocked cats have a very good prognosis with treatment yet, the range of cost varies greatly across veterinary hospitals. Thankfully Bapoo’s dad found a nonprofit veterinary hospital that offers subsidized care and saved his life. The total cost for the exam, bloodwork, urinary catheter and a vaccine was $285.

Bapoo lives with his mom, dad and two children. One child has special needs and mom stays at home to take care of him. The family is supported by dad’s income alone so when Bapoo became sick, money was very tight.

When asked, what do you want people to know about Bapoo, dad said, “He was introduced to my son when he was a little under 3. My son named him “Bapoo” because he wanted to name him “Black Panther” but couldn’t get it out right. So, his name ended up being Bapoo. One of the sweetest cats I’ve ever seen… he will go out of his way just to lay on you and snuggle.”

Trapper

Trapper is a 7-year-old chihuahua mix who had severe dental disease. If bacteria from inflamed gums and decaying roots enters the bloodstream it can travel to vital organs and cause systemic organ damage. Trapper’s mom is on disability and she paid the maximum amount she could and applied for assistance through Young-Williams Animal Center and the Pet Good Samaritan Fund. The discount at Young-Williams brought the total cost of $695 down to $340

“He means everything to me and he’s my companion. I’d go crazy without him. He’s so loving and my cuddle buddy” said Trapper’s Mom. Everyone is so happy that they are able to continue their cuddles together!

Max

Max is a 4-year-old male cutie pie who was fighting a life-threatening urinary blockage. His owners initially took him to an emergency veterinary hospital where they were quoted nearly $6,000 for full treatment and hospitalization. Their dog had also recently received medical care and despite their financial limitations, they still paid over $500 to get Max stable while continuing to seek affordable veterinary options to keep him alive and with his family. They located a lower-cost veterinary provider, Focus Veterinary Care, who agreed to take him in with a $400 deposit. At that point they had nothing left for the remaining balance of $488. Because of Max’s determined family, Focus Vet’s willingness to help all pets and the donors of the PGSF Fund, Max was treated and saved.

Max’s family had this to say about him. “Max is our baby. He’s been with us since he was a kitten, and he’s grown up completely surrounded by our family. He’s not just a pet in our home—he’s part of our daily rhythm, our comfort, and our emotional stability. He is the sweetest, most affectionate cat. He follows us from room to room, curls up with whoever is having a hard day, and has always had a calming, grounding presence in our home. His brothers miss him deeply right now, and the absence has genuinely affected the energy of our household. What we want people to know most is that Max is deeply loved and completely integrated into our family. This is the first time he has ever faced a serious medical issue, and we acted immediately to save his life. We are not people who are willing to give up on him. We are simply a family doing everything we can to bring our boy back home where he belongs—safe, loved, and with the people who have cared for him his whole life.”

Biscuit

Biscuit is a 4-year-old puggle who needed emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage. Her family was living check to check and put the maximum amount they could toward the vet bill, leaving them dangerously behind on rent and utilities. Knoxville Animal Clinic worked with them to make the treatment more affordable and the caring PGSF donors rounded out the amazing three way partnership to save Biscuit!

Biscuit’s family had this to say about her: “My Biscuit is my entire life. I have raised her since a pup , and she means more to me than anyone could ever imagine. She has been diagnosed with chronic gut disease as well as intestinal blockage and it has taken a very big toll on her. I just want to help her fell happy and healthy again so she can play and jump around like she used too. I hope we can help her.”

Crimson

Crimson is a 6-month-old Doberman who ate something she wasn’t supposed to and therefore needed emergency surgery to remove the “foreign body”.

Crimson’s mom recently lost her job because her brother was hospitalized and needed 6 surgeries in the span of a week and a half. She was approved time away from work but then was let ago after returning back to work. Even with all that going on in her life, Crimson’s mom paid over $1,000 toward the veterinary bills. Knoxville Animal Clinic and the PGSF worked together to cover the rest. What teamwork!

This is what Crimson’s mom has to say about her “She’s honestly just the best girl all around. I’m genuinely obsessed with her. She is the funniest and silliest thing. Her personality lights up the room and draws strangers to her wherever she goes. She is the sweetest girl ever and brings us so much joy to our day to day life.”

Fraya

Fraya is a 2-year-old Blue Nose Pittie who suffered from several gun shot woulnds. Her mom was homeless and disabled with no income. The veterinary hospital that came to Fraya’s rescue is also helping Fraya’s mom to find other resources to help her. How wonderful to care so much!

Fraya’s mom said “I have had Fraya sice she was 4 weeks old. She is my best friend. I recently got sick and my son had to take her with him to Texas and on the day they were leaving to come back and she got hurt bad. I can’t see my life with out her.”

While treating the wounds, Fraya was also spayed. Spaying elimates the risk of ovarian and uterine cancers, uterine infection called pyometra and dramatically reduces the likelihood of developing mammary tumors.

Tank

Tank is an 8-year-old Dachshund in need of a complex dental surgery because severe infection destroyed the gums and bone holding them in place.

Tanks family was in a difficult spot because they were helping another family by taking care of eight of their children. Tank’s family said “He’s the best dog; listens, plays, and gives great snuggles but here lately he’s been in pain and barely able to eat.”

Tank feels like his old self again thanks to all the PGSF donors!

Nala

Nala is a 2-year-old female who had a rapidly growing growth on her left carpus (wrist area). If not removed the growth would prevent Nala from walking and compromise her entire leg.

Nala’s mom is on disability and recently experienced her own medical emergency. Nala’s mom shared that “she is my service dog and my protection cause I’m a survivor of domestic abuse for 20yrs and she has helped me in so many ways. She’s done so much for me.”

Modelo

Modelo is a 9-month-old male sweetheart who suffered a severe fall that left him with a broken jaw. Modelo’s mom rushed him to an emergency clinic where she was quoted between $3,000 and $8,000 for surgery needed to repair his jaw and extract teeth broken in the accident. This was not feasible so she sought a second opinion at Young-Williams Animal Center and a reasonable treatment cost was offered. The staff there said, “He has the best temperament. His jaw was fractured in multiple spots yet he came in happy and wagging his tail. He took the pre-meds for x-rays like a champ and continued to seek love.”

Modelo needed two separate surgeries. The staff said “He had surgery the past two Fridays. The first one was an evaluation where we ended up stitching the upper gum and doing x-rays. The second Friday he came in for the jaw surgery and neuter.” Through every appointment and procedure, he was as sweet and loving as before.

As you can see in the photo above, he is one special boy!

The total surgery cost was $1725. After applying the discounts of $688 provided by the hospital, the new total was $1037. The owner made a $300 payment, making the final balance $737 which was covered by the generous and loving donors of the Pet Good Samaritan Fund.

Through every moment of pain, Modelo chose love, showing us that even the deepest wounds can be healed by compassion and care.

Independence

Independence, also known as Indy, is a 10 year old hound who needed a mass removal and complex dental disease surgery. His mom is unable to work and while she recieves some government benefits, it does not cover her four-legged family members medical needs.

Independence’s mom said “Indy is my lifeline and best friend. I hate to see him suffer and know I can’t help”. Indy’s mom does help him though; every day she gives him a wonderful life and he does the same for her. Through the partnership the PGSF has with Young-Williams Animal Center, Indy was given a second chance at life and feeling good every day. Thank you donors for making it all possible!

Happy

Happy is an 12 year old female Yorke Terrier Mix and was a gift from daughter to mother. Happy’s mom is on a fixed income and was not financially able to fund surgery for severe dental disease and mass removal.

Happy’s mom said, “Happy is like my child. She so loving and affectionate. Always a happy doggy. She gets me through emotional and mental health, whenever or whatever I go through my doggy loves me. She’s my best friend. Part of the time I think Happy thinks she human. LOL. I couldn’t be more blessed with her. She’s the greatest gift in my life, and I can’t imagine life with out her. Makes my days easier when she can sense my feelings and comforts me. I name her happy cuz she is always so hyper and playful. She thinks she’s big and bad at first but when you reach down and pet her she just melts and then you’re her new best friend!

Zephyr

Zephyr is a 3-year-old pittie mix. His mom knew something was wrong and spent $256.52 for his initial exam and x-rays at Fayette Veterinary Clinic in Lexington, KY. Based on radiographs and a brief ultrasound, this sweet boy had a peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia – an abnormality where a hole in the diaphragm allows abdominal organs to slip into the sac surrounding the heart. It is almost always a birth defect and is primarily diagnosed in dogs and cats.

Zephyr’s mom had recently lost her own mom and the cost of planning her funeral along with car and job issues, it was a never-ending cycle of setbacks and financial insecurity. Zephyr’s mom’s luck starte to change when a good friend gave her an old car to get around in and attend interviews but she still didn’t have enough to cover an emergency surgery. Zephyr’s mom said, “Zephyr is the closest thing I have to a child. It’s just him and me. He brings me joy and comfort. He licks my tears when I’m sad and plays with me to make me laugh. He’s a good boy and precious to me. I love him more than I could possibly ever put into words. I genuinely don’t know what I’d do without him in my life.”

Dr. Farris at Fayette Veterinary Clinic helped save Zephyr by fiting him in, giving subcutaneous fluids, a heartworm test, and canned food at no charge. They had a surgeon come to their clinic to perform the surgery. At a time when challenges feel overwhelming, compassion and helping one another can make all the difference.

Bruno

Bruno is a 10 month old Golden Doodle who accidentally ingested several socks. The socks became trapped in his esophagus and refused to budge. Luckily for Bruno and his mom, Knoxville Animal Clinic was willing and able to fit him in for surgery immediately. It was a difficult procedure but the amazing doctor and her dedicated staff saved Bruno’s life!

This is what Bruno’s mom had say about him. “Our pet Bruno is our first baby and changed our lives for the better. He is sweet and loving to adults and kids and even other dogs. He’s never met a stranger. Before Bruno, I wasn’t really a dog person and now it would be hard without him.”

Bruno’s parents moved into a house a month before the “sock incident” and had just paid first months rent, a deposit and last months rent at the previous apartment. In addition they were also expecting their 1st human baby in two months. All of this at the same moment made for a stressful and unexpected financial situation. Because the Pet Good Samaritan Fund was already in partnership with Knoxville Animal Clinic, we helped each other to support Bruno and his loving family. Everybody wins, especially sweet Bruno.

CeeCee

CeeCee is a 10-year old cat who presented with a huge ulcerated mass on her right arm and it needed to be removed. She was a stray when her mom first found her and adopted her.

CeeCee’s mom is elderly, hard of hearing, unable to work and on a fixed income. “CeeCee is my world, she deserves the best” her mom said. She put as much as she could, $125, toward the surgery.

Recovery is going well and the other two pets at home are so happy to have her back. The total cost of surgery was $415 because the clinic offers income based services, utilizing local help as well as the PGSF donors. Working together to support all our community members means the world to these pets.

Odin

Odin is a 4 year old German Shepherd. Just look at those ears!!

He ingested a “foreign body” and required exploratory surgery to both find it and remove it. During surgery he was also neutered. What a deal!

Odin’s dad describes him as energetic with a gentle temperament.
He serves as a foundational and protective presence for their family and has a very special bond with their young daughter.
Times had been difficult for Odin’s dad due to his recent transition from the Marine Corps to civilian life where minimum wage employment and limited work hours put a strain on finances. Even during this hard time, Odin’s dad put $500 toward the lifesaving surgery. Once again, all parties, the veterinary hospital, the pet parent and the PGSF donors and staff worked together to give this gorgeous boy a second chance. Odin’s big smile shows how thankful he is!

Mama Kitty

Momma Kitty is a 5 year old spayed female Domestic Long Hair sweetheart! She was experiencing painful dental disease and needed surgery at Young-Williams Animal Center in Tennessee. Mama Kitty’s owner adopted her over a year ago and since she is on disability there wasn’t enough money to pay for dental surgery after paying the bills. Thanks to the Young-Williams Animal Center’s income based services and the generous PGSF donors, Mama Kitty received her surgery. The cost for her surgery was $360. Her mouth is now free from pain and she can eat without suffering.

Rylee

Rylee thought she was a superhero when she ate part of the rug that was under her crate. Unfortunately she wasn’t – as it got stuck in her intestines. She needed emergency surgery to remove it and Focus Veterinary Care in Kentucky came to her rescue!

Rylee’s mom just moved out from a toxic relationship and was struggling to get her head above water financially. She had crazy electric bills on top of all the other living expenses and didn’t have a savings account for emergency situations at the time.

Rylee’s Mom describes her as: She has been an emotional support dog for not only my daughter when she was young but for me as well through my struggles. She is my happy place, my reason I love coming home. She is way more than a dog, she is my baby. I can’t imagine life without her. She is the sweetest, most loving animal

Taco

Taco is a 9 year old male Chihuahua with a big personality!

His family adopted him two years ago and he is one of two greatly loved pets in their home. Due to a urinary blockage he needed emergency surgery but his family was experiencing hardship due to no income. They didn’t give up and sought out resources in their area. Taco’s surgery cost a total of $600. Together our donors and the staff at Young-Williams Animal Center saved his sweet life.

Quinn

Quinn is a 5-month-old dog, the only pet in her home, and the love of her mom’s life. Young puppies can be mischievous and get into things they shouldn’t. Quinn found herself needing emergency surgery to remove a “foreign body” – the term used when a pet ingests something other than digestible food. Quinn’s mom was in financial need because she was out of work for several months after experiencing a traumatic life event herself. During the life-saving surgery Quinn was also spayed therefore preventing another need for anesthesia in the short term. The veterinary clinic pitched in by donating some of their services, Quinn’s mom paid the amount that she could afford and PGSF donated the rest. Together everyone cared enough to save Quinn!

Tank

Tank is an 8-year-old Yorkie Poo who was adopted 6 years ago when his previous owners moved out of town. Tank had a urinary bladder calculus with urethral calculi blockage. In simple terms, a stone or stones were blocking his ability to urinate. During surgery he was neutered and had a urethrostomy to reroute his urethra and urine. His mom is a college student paying for all her tuition by herself. She lives with her mom and grandmother who have significant monthly medical bills.  Tank’s mom had already spent $1,300 on his treatment and when asked, “Is there anything else you want us to know that we have not asked?” she replied, “Nothing else, this is my last resort for assistance before I would have to go to euthanasia.” This can happen to anyone. This pet parent did everything she could to not give up on her boy and it worked! The veterinary clinic that came to Tank’s rescue offered discounted x-rays and other pro-bono services as their way of helping save Tank’s life. Together, everyone involved pitched in to give this sweet boy the opportunity to keep living with his loving family.

Maple

Maple’s owner had been trying to get her spayed after rescuing her from a Craigslist ad. Maple’s owner was out on workers’ comp and could only afford a low cost clinic. Scheduling the spay appointment became difficult as Maple went into heat. Maple developed a pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection and suddenly needed surgery right away. Her body was beginning to become toxic. Luckily her owner found a veterinary clinic willing and able to perform immediate surgery, and the PGSF to help with the cost, before it was too late.

Bumi

Bumi was a gift from his owner’s mother and became a source of warmth and emotional support after she had passed. When Bumi began struggling to urinte, called blocked, his owner took him to an emergency vet that charged $1,800 just for an overnight stay. When he blocked again after a short time, she couldn’t afford another $1,800 bill so she sought out another vet to perform a perineal urethrostomy. Thanks to PGSF her daughter’s best friend is healthy and home, asking for belly rubs just like always.

Redemption

Redemption is a one year old mixed breed dog. He is happy and loved. His family had recently lost their home to a fire when he became very sick. Redemption was brought to the ER when he was struggling to urinate. The possibility for his family to also lose their young pet was overwhelming and unimaginable. Redemption’s life was saved by Spay Now. Spay Now performed an emergency cystotomy, which is a surgical procedure that involves making an incision in the bladder to treat underlying conditions. In Redemptions case a stone needed to be removed from both his bladder and urethra, thereby allowing him to pass urine again. He was also neutered.

Thanks to this surgery Redemption is back to his playful self, chasing balls and making people smile every day.

Snoop

Snoop was found caught in a steel leg hold trap. Many hospitals would have just amputated her leg, but instead, the time and dedication of one hospital made all the difference in the world. After two surgeries and dozens of bandage changes, she is now walking on all 4 legs and doing wonderful. Her care cost $4,000 total and thanks to all the loving people who saved her: her rescuer, the clinic doctors and staff, donations to PGSF and a crowdfunding campaign with Waggle.org, she is the happiest kitty again!
